Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 Information

The following information is intended to inform students about the benefits and requirements contained in the Tax Relief Act (TRA) of 1997.  It is based upon our understanding of the provisions contained in the law and should not be considered an official document. The 1098-T should only be used as a guide. Students and/or parents should seek the advice of a tax consultant for specific questions concerning their eligibility.  As an institution, we cannot provide you with tax advice.

IRS Form 1098T Tuition Statement

A 1098T Form is mailed to all students with a valid Social Security Number on file.  The form is mailed to the student's permanent address by January 31st.

  • Box 1 - This box shows the total payments received by SUNY 推荐最近最火的赌博软件 Medical University from any source for qualified tuition and related expenses less any reimbursements or refunds made during the calendar year.
  • Box 5 - This box shows the total amount of all Scholarships and Grants that were processed during the calendar year.

The tax information about enrollment is being reported to the Internal Revenue Service. Please be aware that the University is not responsible to determine if you qualify for one of the tax credits or to calculate any education credit that may be claimed.
