我们的事 is a community outreach program that educates men and women on the importance of colo-rectal cancer screenings. 我们的事 is made up of Resident Health Advocates (RHAs) who encourage and help men and women in their own communities to get screened for colorectal cancer. The RHAs provide education and support by reminding patients of their upcoming appointment and informing them on what to expect.

Cancer of the colon and rectum is the 3rd most common cancer in the United States and is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in the US among men and women combined.

2 Main Tests to Screen for 结肠直肠癌

1. A colonoscopy done every 10 years
2. Fecal Immunchemical Testing (适合): A test you can do at home using a stool sample. 适合 test should be done every year.

Most colorectal cancers begin as a polyp which is a growth in the lining of the intestine. It can take years for a polyp to develop into cancer. Regular screening can often prevent colorectal cancer by finding and removing polyps before they have the change to turn into cancer.
